About Podunk: An Overview

Here, you will find a great deal of information about the festival and our grounds.

The Podunk Bluegrass Music Festival will celebrate its 13th year with one of its most outstanding line-ups to date. The festival will run from Thursday, July 31st through Sunday, August 3rd at Martin Park in East Hartford, Connecticut. People always ask, "How nice can this festival be if it's in a city?". But once you arrive at Martin Park, you will find all the city sounds melt away and the mature park keeps the city sounds out and the bluegrass in.

The blue and white tent in the upper right corner is in the back of the concert area and used for those wishing to have plenty of shade during the sunny afternoon sets.

The small tents to the left in the back are the entrance into the concert area.

In 2006, we added a large Cantina tent in the concert area that people are able to sit under and enjoy the great food served. We even had a place that people set their chairs for the day to enjoy the music.

General Information
Thursday join us for the first night of bluegrass music in East Hartford's Martin Park, located off Burnside Avenue. There is no admission fee for East Hartford Residents. The festival kicks into high gear on Friday and Saturday with great acoustic music from our main stage all day long.

Where The Land Is Flat, But The Music Never Is..
Pictured here is an aerial view of the festival grounds taken in 2001. In the center of the picture, is our main stage area with open seating. To the left is our parking area and main entrance off of Hillside Street. In the upper right corner is our camp grounds with the pool located just below where we have swimming for our campers and showers are available. The street pictured at the bottom is Burnside Ave. This is the entrance for our campers.

The camping area is just a short walk to the stage.

What Else Is Happening?
There will be a series of free workshops, traditional crafts, storytelling, jam sessions, open stage band time, and a great variety of food available. We also will offer children's entertainment and a children's activity area.

Plenty of Field Picking
Bring your instrument and join in at the camping grounds and under the family tent for some good old fashion picking! Plenty of chances to play into the wee hours!
