Over the past few years, Cadillac Sky has entrenched
itself as a force to be reckoned with in the world
of acoustic music. C-Sky is the creation of Bryan
Simpson (mandolin, fiddle, vocals), Matt Menefee
(banjo), Mike Jump (guitar, vocals), and Ross Holmes
(fiddle, vocals) and Andy Moritz (bass, vocals).
Their original sound is a product of their upbringing;
being raised and steeped in the staunch, honest
sounds of stalwarts such as Bill Monroe and Flatt
& Scruggs, all the while, keeping a curious
ear and an open mind, and consistently sneaking
out from under the watchful eyes of their elders
to discover the groundbreaking sounds of New Grass
Revival, The David Grisman Quintet, and artists
from other genres such as The Beatles. Their deep
respect for the music of their musical forefathers,
and their eagerness to find a sound all their own
has created a dizzying combination. Their energetic
onstage persona and melodic sensibilities will bring
an audience to their feet while their instrumental
expertise and musical maturity will satisfy the
most jaded of critics.
The band was chosen as one of the twelve acts from
hundreds of applicants, to showcase at the 2004
IBMA World of Bluegrass Trade Show, a very prestigious
honor. And have been featured in publications such
as Bluegrass Unlimited, Bluegrass Now, and Banjo
Newsletter.
Individually, Cadillac Sky is comprised of two
national champions, a guitar veteran, an upright
virtuoso and an award winning songwriter. They’ve
toured with the likes of Sara Evans, Josh Turner
and David Ball, performed at venues such as Carnegie
Hall, Ryman Auditorium, and The Grand Ole Opry,
and have had songs recorded by George Strait, Kenny
Rogers, Mark Wills, and Neal McCoy. Together, Cadillac
Sky forms one entity to make music that people from
any generation or genre can love and embrace.
